After I get dressed I cross through my parent’s room to the bathroom. My mom is getting ready for sub job. I try to steal a few minutes in the mirror to do my hair. When I brush my hair I decide a ponytail is best. It takes less than a second to get my hair together but before I make sure it looks alright my mom boots me out of the bathroom. Then I go in front of the mirror in her room and try to make sure I look okay. I’m not that happy that I don’t look that pretty but at least I look normal or a tiny better than normal. My mom comes in and boots me out or that mirror too.
I go back in my room and turn on my computer. I mess around surfing websites and checking the site comments when I remember that my cat is not in my room. I go hunt down the cat and put her in my room so the dog won’t get her. After that I put my shoes on and go into the kitchen to drink some soymilk (my breakfast). Then I hear my mom leave for her job so I go into the bathroom and brush my teeth. Before I go back in into my room I wake up my dad and he gets up and starts getting ready.
By the time he is ready it is anywhere between 7:40-8:00 a.m. We leave to walk to his work; it’s not quite a mile but close. When we get there he says he will be down in a second so he goes up stairs to his desk. I go in a room and go on one of the work computers. When he comes down he tells me it’s time to go. I get in the car (company car) and we drive for about eight minutes until the car pulls up into one of the schools back gates and I get out.
When I get to school I have about 20 minutes until the bell rings. So I go and hunt down my friend Daniela. I check the library only to find out that it is still freaking closed. I wonder around the school for a little bit trying not to be seen because I want to avoid people I don’t know or dislike. When I find Daniela wondering around with Inez we join up and talk about today. The conversation usually goes like this:
Me: “What’s the rotation?”
Daniela:” 5-6-1-2-3-4”
Me: “Damn, we have math first.”
Inez:”Crap.”
Me:”I HATE MATH!”
Daniela: “I forgot to do the homework.”
Me: “Again?”
Daniela: “I was at the Y (YMCA) late last night.”
Me:”Can you copy my homework in class.”
Daniela:”Yup.”
Bell rings, we walk to class.
In math we sit in our normal sits, I hand Daniela my homework. Mrs. Devi our math teacher starts rattling about something or other. The intercom goes up with our daily announcements:
“Welcome Cope Eagles, time for the pledge of Allegiance!”
He recites the pledge I have mummer half lip sync, I don’t feel like saying it again for the millionth time. The he talks about some of the boring school crap (school spirit is not my thing). I listen for something that could get me out of doing woodshop and Spanish two next year. I’m always listening for the chance to apply for Journalism or to apply to be a TA. Nothing exciting.
When the intercom goes off Mrs. Devi talking about what we will do in math next week. I zone out until she says take about your Math books and work on this. I take out the necessary supplies and turn around to work with Inez. She does the problems with her handy dandy calculator; I do them on an old fashioned sheet of paper. We compare answers and get the same on everything. When we get to the problem neither of us can understand we ask Daniela.
Me: “What did you get?”
Daniela: “Not there yet, here’s your homework.”
Rustle of papers; I now have the damn paper that I nearly killed me of boredom last night.
Inez, Daniela, and I start talking, completely ignoring our math.
Daniela:”I can’t wait until we go to Disneyland!”
Me:”Daniela you are completely obsessed!” She talks about the trip me, her, and all the other CJSEF members that paid will be making on June 2, 2008. This is her favorite topic since we joined in February.
Me:”Don’t forget the pictures that we have to take with pooh, the pictures we have to take on the ride, and the autograph we have to get because we lost the bet.” Daniela and I dared each that we could not say Disneyland. She lost after 5 seconds and demanded a redo. I lost a day later and did not get a redo. It doesn’t bother me much because we both have to go through it.
Inez:”I wish I could go with you guys.”
Daniela: “Next year you need to apply!
Ms. Devi: We are now going to grade last night’s homework. Please get it out.
We all get out our homework. The kids that didn’t do theirs get yelled at because they never do it. When we start grading I realize that I actually did some of it right. Daniela’s lucky because she gets the same homework grade I do because I let her copy mine. The Bell rings before we finish grading.
Next we have English where I sit next Daniela and near Maddox, my other friend. In English we don’t do much, Mrs. Lott turns the tape player on and we listen to the pearl. Then we worked on the fall up to the chapter. It happens to have to do with drawing. Crap, not my strong point.
Me:”Inez does this look okay?”
Inez:”What is it?”
Me:”WHHHHAH! It’s a house.”
Me:”I suck at drawing!”
Inez:”I’ve seen worse!”
Me:” Grunt, it can’t get worse.”
Maddox: “If you did this, this, and this, it will look fine.”
Me: “Thank you Maddox!”
Me: “How does this look now?”
Daniela: “Umm… You can’t draw.”
Me: “I know I do, but you don’t have to say it.”
Maddox: “I know, you don’t.”
Silently I remember that Maddox deserves an extra good birthday. Daniela and I are going to by for a piglet ball when we go to Disneyland. She loves those!
Inez: “How do you draw a clam?”
Me: “Something like this.”
I show her my painfully pathetic excuse for a clam.
I look up at the clock.
Me: “We only have a couple of minutes of class left.”
We all start packing up. The bell rings.
Once we get out of the classroom all of my friends head down to the front of the school. Right now we have a 15 minute tutorial break. When we get there all of our other friends are there, sitting by the tree.
Me:”Hi Claire! Hi Amber! Hi Carly!”
Claire: “Hi!”
Daniela:”What do we do in Science?”
Claire:”Watch a short video, do a lesson, and take a formative test.
Maddox starts talking to Claire; I listen and add stuff in. Carly starts talking too. We all start eating and I ask everyone if they want a cookie.
The bell rings. Inez, Daniela, and I head of to woodshop and Spanish.
Before Inez and Daniela go into woodshop I tell them at if I die I want Inez to have my piggy collection. Daniela would just throw them away. Inez says she would take very good care of them.
So I walk to Spanish and hope that class gets canceled. No luck, I have to endear Spanish. When I enter the classroom I notice that “He” isn’t there. I silently take my place and want to jump on my desk and throw a party. “He” can’t say some weird comment about me today.
I don’t know anyone in Spanish so I spent the whole period reading my book because I was done with my work. It all went by pretty slow, the class was noisy and the teacher threatened to make us all copy dictionary words. The bell rang.
I head off to Science and meet Inez and Daniela halfway there. Daniela tells me about how much work you have to do in woodshop, I say that I would trade places with her any day.
In Science we do exactly what Claire said we would do. The period goes by pretty fast because Science is my favorite class. I have a pretty good grade in it and my Science teacher rocks.
The bell rings again and its lunch time.
Lunch is just like tutorial. Me and my friends have lots of fun throwing little spike balls at each other. Sadly the bell rings.
Everyone stalks off to P.E. Me and Inez go our P.E teacher, everyone else goes to theirs. My teacher takes roll and sends us all off to get dressed. We all get dressed and go outside to stretch. My teacher makes the class go down to the field and play team Handball.
The team we face sucks, I actually block goals. Amanda this very mean girl tells me to stop blocking the ball with my effing legs. She cusses at me and it’s just a game and I’m not cheating. She gets some goals in, I switch places with another team member so I can get the ball and accidently hit her in the head. She sticks a team mate on me and he tries to distract me by waving his fingers in my place, I wave my fingers back. I still get in front of her and block her from getting some balls into my goal. She gets one in. My teacher calls us in to go get dressed.
I get dressed and met up with some other friends. We sit on the loker room benches and wait for the bell to ring.
The bell rings and everyone gets up. Maddox, Inez, Claire, Amber, Daniela, and I head of to Social Studies with Mr. Knight.
Claire:”I wish we could all skip class!”
Me:”I wonder what Mr. Knight will do today…..”
Daniela:”He’s not that bad, I don’t get why you guys don’t like him.”
Inez:”I have no opinion on him.”
Maddox:”He is that bad, he always picks on us.”
Daniela:”He’s a good teacher.”
Me:”If you call sitting us in front of a text book all period GOOD.”
Clare: grunts an agreement
Maddox:”I know!”
Daniela: “I learn stuff.”
Me: “You learn it from the text book not him, he just sits around and does whatever he wants.”
Amber: “I know, and he’s creepy.”
Claire, Maddox, and I second that opinion.
We arrive at the evil classroom of doom. Mr. Knight greets us at the door and stares at us. I mange to trip over Inez’s roller backpack, I whisper a sorry to her. Then we all sit down, I have the first sit in the row nearest to the door.
Mr. Knight starts talking and picks on some people. When he stops talking he class of team by team to go get their class books, my team is called last. We start reading and Mr. Knight chooses Claire to go first, she chooses Daniela next, Daniela chooses Maddox, and Maddox chooses me. After I finish reading my portion I stop and wander who I’m going to choose. I don’t want to choose Inez because she hates reading, but I can’t think of anyone else to choose. So Inez reads and chooses someone, then the chain of readers gets all mixed up. We finally get done reading and Mr. Knight gives us our study guides. For the rest of the period the class works in total silence. The bell finally goes off.
Everyone rushes outside in frenzy. Once I’m outside I say:
“We’re free, we’re free!”
Daniela: “It’s Friday!”
